Sip, Soothe, and Chill: Cooling Herbs & Oils for Summer Balance

As temperatures rise in July, your body works harder to stay cool—and for those with chronic inflammation, migraines, or nervous system sensitivity, that heat can trigger even more discomfort.

At Reign Body and Soul Aromatherapy, we embrace the power of herbal and aromatic remedies to help you stay balanced. Cooling remedies are an easy, natural way to regulate heat, reduce internal stress, and support whole-body wellness.

Herbs That Cool from Within

Here are four herbs we love to use in summer infusions and teas:

Peppermint-Naturally cooling and refreshing, peppermint soothes digestion and tension. It’s also a wonderful headache ally when heat triggers migraines.

Hibiscus- Tart, tangy, and full of antioxidants, hibiscus helps lower internal heat and supports cardiovascular wellness. It gives your tea a vibrant red color and a gentle zing.

Lemon Balm- This gentle nervine herb helps reduce anxiety, regulate mood, and calm an overstimulated system—perfect for hot days when you’re feeling irritable or restless.

Chamomile-:Best known for calming the nerves, chamomile also soothes skin and inflammation. It’s a lovely herb to help you wind down at night, especially during hot or hectic seasons.

Essential Oils That Cool and Calm

Essential oils offer both emotional and physical cooling support. These are our top picks:

Eucalyptus (E. radiata)- Crisp and opening, eucalyptus helps clear the lungs and relieve heat-based fatigue. Avoid for young children under age 5.

Spearmint- A gentle cousin to peppermint, spearmint is safe for kids and sensitive systems. It uplifts the spirit while cooling the skin.

Lavender- Cooling, calming, and anti-inflammatory, lavender is perfect for sun-exposed skin or to settle an overworked mind.
